Arabic poetry above is by Ossama

We have all witnessed a historical and an emotional moment of PM Siniora's genuine love to his country and to his people. PM Siniora once again has proven how much Lebanon deeply means to him.Crying can be interpreted by many as a sign of weakness and despair but also weeping before the Arab ministers and the world can be a powerful message from a war torn and defendless country like ours. This event has taken me back to pay a tribute to a great leader, "our martyr Rafik Hariri", may God bless his soul and rest him in peace, Amen. Apparently, martyr Hariri's indisputable love to Lebanon has significantly rubbed off on PM Siniora.Despite our suffering and pain we will prevail, God willing.

It is heartbreaking to see, and we all love Sinyora - He is truly a great leader, and his love for Lebanon has been manifest from Long before this war even began. It is a pity others dont love Lebanon just as much - by others I mean those who brought this war on us.

I love Lebanon - as much as Sinyora does, and would like to see nothing less that full soverignty, independance, prosperity and peace for Leanon - anything less would be a let down to you, me, Senyora and all the others who truly love Lebanon and her people - the Lebanese.

However, to blindly demand a ceasefire to stop this war is like spitting in the face of all those who have died for a free Lebanon and Peace. I want to see peace in Lebanon - but not one with an Iranian Hezbollah in it - I would rather another 100 weeks of war than to go back to the the status quo ante of July 11.

Regards All

I do not doubt for a second Mr. Sinioras' love for Lebanon and the sincerity of his desire to stop the killings and allow Lebanon to rebuild. His intensions are good, But people in authority are not measured by intensions but by accomplishments and decisivness, Unfortunately Fouad Siniora , by this measure, does not emerge as a strong leader. We all want the stop the killings but we do not want the return to the dysfunctional status of having a state within a state. Strong leadership has been a no show over more than a year in Lebanon. Mr. Siniora could have and must have taken the decision to deploy the Lebanese army in the south before July 12, 2006. Mr. Siniora your failure or inability to take that decision has been very costly, maybe the most costly bill that this wretched country has ever had to pay. And yet your government has not yet had the courage to call clearly for the disarming of HA not only because it was their actions that started the war and their presence poses danger to Lebanon but also because no democracy can afford to allow a private group to operate above the law of the land. To just ask for a cease fire with no conditions is not realistic. We all know, and the whole world also knows, that we need to stop the killing but the responsibility for that is not a one way street. There is a reciprocity that expects us to live up to our responsibilities as a sovereign state and these include offering guarantees that we will do whatever it takes to control illegal activities across our border.

I wish the Siniora government well and I hope that they can deliver Lebanon from its misery but in my humble opinion as a Lebanese citizen their performance has been wanting.

Well, how easy is it to blame Seniora now ... the country has been in the shit for decades and now that we have one prime minister who is working for his country and trying to get out of the situation with some gains, we start criticising him.

Just give me one other name in case God forbid something happens to him. He knows what is best for the country and trying to get it done the peaceful way and the peaceful way is always the longest way. Another way of solving the problem will put the country in the shit again. He is very much Lebanese, more Lebanese than many of us and I bet you he thought of all scenarios before making his decision, the less costly for the country in these circumstances. So instead of criticizing, how about we back him up for a change and wish him safety.

Sigh ...

I am not lebanese, and know not much about this country, but I would like to know, is it actually possible, even with more courageous politicians for the Lebanese army to defend the Lebanese against Hezbollah and/or Israel? I mean, Hezbollah is supported (apparently) by Iran and Syria. Israel (without a doubt) by the US. Who supports the Lebanese government and army (don't say France, for god's sake!)?
